BYK-3550

BYK 3550 is a silicone acrylate copolymer additive that provides strong reduction in surface tension and excellent leveling properties. As a substrate wetting and leveling agent for solvent-borne coating systems, BYK 3550 improves substrate wetting and prevents cratering in coatings. It also enhances leveling in coatings. BYK 3550 exhibits different properties depending on the polarity of the coating system. In polar systems, it shows excellent compatibility and homogeneous distribution in the film, with negligible influence on the surface energy of cured films. This improves recoatability of protective layers and adhesion of foils and adhesives. BYK 3550 can be used throughout the entire coating structure. In non-polar systems, BYK 3550 improves anti-blocking properties without affecting recoatability or gloss. BYK 3550 is especially suitable for advanced material coatings where uniform thin films with low surface energy and good recoatability are required.
